Student declares interest to become Parliament Speaker

A student from the Institute of Accountancy in Arusha (IAA) Juma Masende has expressed his interest to vie for the position of Parliament Speaker, highlighting that he has the ability to lead, thanks to the number of leadership positions held previously.

Speaking to Journalists in Arusha today, Masende said if elected, he will ensure that the National Assembly performs its oversight role so as to protect the nation’s resources.

“I want to contest for the position because I am a young and I love my country; I want to fully exercise oversight roles to ensure the country’s resources benefit all citizens. I am capable of undertaking the duty, thanks to the experience I have acquired for a long time,” he said.

He said he will ensure that the parliament performs its duties freely so that every Tanzanian benefits from the country’s resources without any favoritism, adding that a leader is supposed to be patriotic and transparent for the nations’ interests.

Masende has appealed to Tanzanians to support and pray for him so that he succeeds in his bid and become the next speaker because he aspires to be an exemplary leader to the country including his fellow youth in order for them to understand that the decision to vie for a leadership position is for everyone regardless of age. What matters is one’s ability to lead.
