Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the weekend at the offices of the Zanzibar Ministry for Trade and Industries, the Minister, Ambassador Amina Salum Ali said the agreement will simplify trade between the two parts of the Union.
She said there are challenges confronting Zanzibar traders in respect of their goods destined to the Mainland including registration of their businesses, the challenges that she said were being worked upon.
Ambassador Amina also said the agreement will act as a key to Zanzibar traders to conduct their businesses without inconveniences.
She said still the two organs harbor differences due to ZBS being young hence she requested TBS to work together with ZBS via various trainings that would enable it to reach TBS’ status.
She said the government has already come up with a new policy for industries and cooperation among private institutions for assisting businesses of small entrepreneurs to grow.
TBS Director General Yussuf Abdallah pledged for the growth of the cooperation between the two institutions and ensures trade is conducted without any inconveniences.
ZBS Director General Rahima Ali Bakari said the cooperation will assist in the conduct of trade with Tanzania Mainland and called upon traders to abide by the laws set by the two institutions.
