Those who haven’t accessed loans might be foreigners, says Katambi

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Youth, Labor and Employment, Patrobas Katambi, has said today, May 18, 2022, that a total of more than 150 billion in loans has been disbursed to youth and that anyone who has missed out in accessing these loans may probably be a foreigner.

Katambi made the statement today in Parliament as he answered Special Seats MP Sophia Mwakagenda’s question on the youth being unemployed for more than 6 years now and that they have been left out in the system for providing loans to youth groups in councils

“The government has statistical data on the youth including those applying for jobs, we have been gathering information from all universities and we have more than 200,000 young people entering the job market from various higher learning institutions. We are also preparing systems and programmes including internships, and mechanisms for seeking jobs inside and outside the country,” said Katambi.
