It is claimed that the suspect attacked the deceased with a knife and cut off one of his hands, with Acting Regional Police Commander Christina Musyani saying here yesterday that the incident happened on Wednesday at around nine in the morning.
As to the cause of the murder, Musyani said the suspect accused his late father for being a magician, using his charms on him so that he does not become successful in his undertakings.
“Earlier, the suspect arrived at the house of the deceased unannounced and went straight to the sitting room and fiercely started attacking him leading to his death,” she said.
The body of the deceased was preserved at the Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital for examination while the suspect was admitted to the same hospital under police guard, after he was attacked by neighbours upon seeing what he had done to his father.
Acting RPC Musyani reproved the incident saying they will make sure the suspect answers for his crime in court, urging people to stop believing in witchcraft.
