The meeting brought together leaders of political parties, religious leader, representatives from traditional elders and people with disabilities.
The meeting also incorporated representatives for the youths, women, civil society and media people
Opening the meeting held at the Regional Commissioner’s Conference Hall NEC Chairman Retd. Judge of the Court of Appeal Semistocles Kaijage said wananchi who specimen registration cards during PVR improvement exercise at Kihonda Ward in Morogoro Municipality will be required to go back to the registration centres so that their details are to be officially incorporated in the PVR.
“As we said earlier during that exercise that the cards issued were not official ones that is why they were stamped ‘SPECIMEN’. They will have to be issued with proper official cards,” he said.
Giving report on the voters registration exercise, ICT official from NEC Amos Madaha said a total of 15 regions from Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar have finalized the exercise whilst Lindi and Mtwara Regions still continue with registration.
He said this first phase registration will be followed by publication of the PVR so that wananchi can verify their registration details.
He said improvement of PVR for voters in Morogoro region for Ulanga and Malinyi districts as well Tanga Region will be conducted in seven days starting January 23 to 29 this year.
