US mining company donates relief to Ruangwa flood victims

Pula Graphite Partners (PGP) Tanzania Limited  yesterday donated food relief  items to Ruangwa district residents who are victims of recent floods.


The relief is part of  supporting efforts by the government to help the  residents who continue to suffer from the short-term and long-term consequences of the recent rain and flooding.

The donation from PGP includes  50 bags of flour and  maize which were coordinated  transported and distributed  maize to people in need in remote areas with the help of the office of the District Commissioner.

  In a statement the company said mining can contribute to the development in Tanzania in many ways from beneficiation, human capacity, and relief efforts. 

PGP’s motto is “doing well, while doing good” and they have long-term CSR plans as well as a fund for emergency relief," reads the statement.

Pula Graphite Partners plans to use many strategies in coordination with Government and other stakeholders to raise the quality and stability of life for the neighbors of its mining licenses. 

 PGP has a graphite project under development in the Ruangwa. 

PGP is a subsidiary of the Pula Group, which is a US-based company headed by former US Ambassador Charles Stith.
