VP Dr Mpango urges private to intensify precautions against covid-19

VICE President Dr Phillip Mpango yesterday directed government and private institutions in Kigoma to intensify precautions against COVID-19 following reports that the region was among the top 10 with the highest number of patients.

Speaking at a rally during the first day of his four days tour in the region, Dr Mpango said he has reports that the region was among the leading with huge numbers of covid-19 patients.

“The third wave of the disease has no specific signs as compared to the previous ones, the bad thing is that the signs are very dangerous and can lead to death within a short time,” he said.

The VP called upon institutions to put hand washing waters, sanitizers as well as sensitize the use of masks to control the spread of the pandemic in the region.

Dr Mpango said it is very important to sensitize the public to follow prevention guidelines which may help to control the spreading of the disease.

He called upon Zanzibaris to turn up in large numbers to the coming housing and population census which he said will be helpful in policy formulation and development planning.

Dr Mpango added that the exercise was very important to economic development planning saying this was the reason the government was doing it each time the time comes.

Speaking further, the VP said the government has lined up a list of priorities to be implemented in the 2021/22 financial year aimed at stimulating economic growth, service debts and control revenue wastage.

According to Dr Mpango said population Censuses are generally conducted every 10 years and have as primary objective the total enumeration of the population of a country to provide essential information on their spatial distribution, age and sex structure, and other key social and economic characteristics.
