Watchman shoots himself for 'unknown reasons' in Kilimanjaro

TWO people died in separate incidents in Kilimanjaro region, including a 60-year-old man who died after shooting himself for 'unknown reasons', police said here yesterday.

Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander (RPC), Hamisi Issah confirmed the incident, saying the first incident occurred on Tuesday at Mount Meru Petrol Station in Same Township where a 60-year-old Mbazingwa Mgonja was working as a security guard.

RPC Issah told reporters here yesterday that Mgonja, a resident of Vudee in Same district, was employed by Esama Security Company.

According to the regional police chief, before accomplishing his mission to kill himself, the deceased had sent a message to his wife, informing his plan.

“In that message, the man hadn’t said the reason as why he’s intending to do so,” the RPC said, adding that police were investigating the matter.

In another incident, a 20-year-old boy, Consolatha Msacky is allegedly to have been killed by her in-law following family disputes.

RPC Issah said that the incident occurred at around 8am of January 3, at Nganjoni area, Mrumeni village in Moshi rural district.

He said that before the brutal killings, the deceased was trying to solve the couple’s disputes between her biological sister and her in-law, who was identified as Primi James Lyimo.

Her in-law is alleged to have quarrelled with the deceased and latter the deceased was found in a banana farm with serious injuries.

“She dies while on the way to the hospital,” RPC Issah said, adding that police in Kilimanjaro have launched a manhunt for the killer, who managed to run away after committing the crime.
