The pageant's organizer, Tanzanian Rena Callist, revealed in the city mid this week the event has been improved as there is an increase in prizes set aside for winners.
"A lot of issues have been improved in this year's contest, first of all, is the increase in the number of countries which will field models in it, the awards have also been improved compared to the past pageants,'' Callist disclosed.
The official mentioned countries that have confirmed to field models in the pageant as Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, Djibouti, South Sudan, and Ethiopia.
Eritrea, Somalia, Malawi, Seychelles, Comoro Islands, Madagascar, Mauritius, and hosts Tanzania are the other participating countries.
He said: "You can see those that have confirmed o take part in the contest, this proves the level of improvement that has been accomplished, the awards are also impressive.''
According to Callist, the contest's organizers have in this season set out to hand over an award valued a 146m/-.
"This year's pageant's will be presented with a new car Nissan X Trail, which is wor 110m/-, the first runner-up will get 11m/-, the second runner-up will walk away with 5m/-," Callist disclosed.
The official revealed the organizers will hand over awards to the rest of the participants.
Callist pointed out: "We expect this pageant will be watched by over 300 people from all over the world via television and social media.''
Callist revealed the pageant will benefit Tanzania, given the country will accommodate a lot of foreigners set to turn up for the event.
He added that Miss East Africa will offer Tanzania the opportunity to promote its tourist sites and boost the number of tourists.
