Aces in Pro 10 cricket tie

ACES African Fighters’ cricketers will have opportunity to progress into the last eight’s stage of this year’s Dar es Salaam Regional Cricket Committee (DRCC) Pro 10 competition when they confront Boom Boom at the Leaders Club venue tomorrow.

Should Aces African Fighters win the game, they will join General Petroleum, Agha Khan and Dar Gymkhana teams which have already qualified for the quarterfinals from the group.

Aces African Fighters are in the fourth position in the group, having registered two wins and three defeats to secure a net run rate of 0.20.

They have scored 506 runs in 50 overs for a run rate of 10.12 and leaked 458 runs in 46.1 overs for a run rate of 9.92.

Boom Boom have, as well, won two games and conceded three defeats but the side has been positioned fifth in the group’s standings courtesy of an inferior net run rate.

The team has posted 528 runs in 50 overs for a run rate of 10.56 and leaked 561 runs in 47.3 overs for a run rate of 11.81 to record a net run rate of -1.25.

Aces African Fighters, as it had been the case in the team’s previous games, are expected to bank on players including Athuman Siwa, Salm Jumbe, Goodluck Andrew, Ayaz Mustafa and skipper, Mohamed Ali to torment Boom Boom and secure qualification for the next stage.

With Boom Boom also standing a chance of making it to the quarterfinals of the event, the outfit is expected to come out with all barrrells ablaze to register a win over Aces African Fighters.

Dik Diks, Union, Veecom and Telegu Stars have already made it to the quarterfinals of the competition from group B. Dik Diks were the only side boasting of unbeaten spell in the round robin stages, winning all of their games to record a net run rate of 1.59.

Aga Khan will, as well, be in action at the same venue tomorrow, as they are scheduled to play Gymkhana.

The Division A of this year’s DRCC T20 competition, as revealed by DRCC, will see six teams in action at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club’s venue the following day.

General Petroleum will play Saint Gobain Strikers in the opening game, followed by the game pitting Estim Eleven against Aga Khan. Aces African Fighters will wind up the day by playing hosts, Gymkhana.

TCA Development have, so far, been the only outfit to have secured progression to the last four’s stage of the Division A of the tournament, after topping the division’s group 1 with three wins from as many games.

The team has registered 392 runs in 56.5 overs and leaked 324 runs in 60 overs to secure a net run rate of 1.50.
