Advanced Cricket Players League's squads unveiled

THE Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) has released lists of cricketers who will battle it out in the 2021 Advanced Cricket Players League (APL) slated for August 27-September 5 at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) oval.

Six outfits namely Buffalo Blasters, Chui Challengers, Royal Rhinos, Simba Kings, Tembo Stars, and Twiga Titans, will feature in the showdown, with each of the sides having 15 cricketers.

The national cricket governing body's information officer, Atif Salim, pointed out the squads consist of the best local cricketers from various clubs from upcountry, U-18 cricketers, and senior national team players.

Cricketers that will form Buffalo Blasters, according to Salim, are skipper Kassim Nassor, Yash Hirwania, Wilbert Martin, Suraj Kumar, Sanjay Bom, Mukul Kumar, Lazaro Festo, and Laksh Snehal.

Issa Kikasi, Vaibhav Bhatia, Jitin Singh, Goodluck Andrew, Dinesh Rabadiya, Abdulrahman Akida, and Gerald Dzunguza, are the squad's other cricketers.

Chui Challengers' players include captain Zafar Khan, Wahid Hussain, Vipin Abraham, Suraj Pala, Sheraz Khan, Ramesh Alluri, and Mohamed Yunus.

Mohammad Ali, Kishen Kamania, Karim Athuman, Imtiyaz Yusuf, Augustin Mwamele, Ashish Kamania, Arslaan Premji, and Abdullah Jabir, also make the outfit's list.

Cricketers making up Royal Rhinos are skipper Aahil Jasani, Abubakar Selemani, Ali Mpeka, Arshaan Jasani, Gulraiz Haideri, Jaffary Kanyita, and Jay Hirwania.

Kartik Syal, Kelvin Anjelo, Kibwana Salum, Kishwabi Ngozi, Nandakishan Pottachira, Nassib Kelvin, Seif Athuman, and Zamoyoni Ramadhan, are also the outfit's players.

Simba Kings' cricketers include Abbas Adamji, Abhishek Rathod, Adnan Zariwala, Ally Hafidh, Amiri Sadick, Athuman Kakonzi, Vishal Patel, and Bhavesh Govind.

The outfit's other cricketers are Ivan Ismail, Johnson Nyambo, Karim Kiseto, Kheel Suchak, Safvan Annarathodika, Vikram Rathore, and skipper Jatin Darji.

Cricketers that will feature for Tembo Stars are skipper Riziki Kiseto, Tambwe Rashid, Seif Khalifa, Sadick Iddi, Prem Thakkar, Nisar Ahmed, and Mohamed Omary.

Harsheed Chouhan, Firoz Dahodwala, Dhyey Shah, Dhrumit Mehta, Ayaz Mustafa, Ankit Baghel, Pafrod Anaceth, and Alhaj Sadick, are the other cricketers making up the team.

Twiga Titans' cricketers include Salum Jumbe, Salmini Yusuf, Rijali Fentu, Raza Baloch, Nassor Zahoro, Jumanne Mohamed, and John David.

Gokul Das, Ejaz Aziz, Basit Raza, Baraka Robert, Athuman Siwa, Acrey Paschal, Issa Safari, and skipper Abhik Patwa, are the squad's other cricketers.

The Twiga Titans are this season's APL defending champions, the cricketers will be under intense pressure to prove their worth and once again clinch the top honour.

Twiga Titans clinched the 2020 APL trophy after cruising to a hard-fought four-run victory over Chui Challengers in a thrilling final.

Salim disclosed the 2021 APL sides will first face each other in a round-robin format and the top four sides will, thereafter, sail through to the knockout phase.
