ARS players’ registration gets underway in Dar

Players’ registration for the U-17 Airtel Rising Stars football program got underway in Dar es Salaam yesterday, paving a way to the commencement of regional matches.

Hamisi Nassoro from Carpet FC fills in Airtel Rising Stars 2016 registration form as Temeke Football Association’s general secretary Kassim Mustafa (R) looks on.

According to a regional tournament schedule released by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), the Regional tournament will kick off on July 28 to August 28 with Ilala, Kinondoni, Temeke, Mwanza, Mbeya and Morogoro regions featuring boys while Ilala, Kinondoni, Temeke, Arusha, Lindi and Zanzibar featuring girls.

Speaking during the registration in Temeke, the Temeke Football Association secretary general Kassim Mustafa said his region has prepared enough to defend the national title they won last year. ‘We have started registration for the players who will take part in the tournament. We are proud that the tournament gives teenagers an opportunity to showcase their talents.” said Mustafa.

Twalipo Youth Academy head coach Neville Kanza sounded optimistic over his team will fare well in the tournament. “We are going to start preparation immediately with a view of performing even better this year round”, he said. Last year, Twalipo Youth Academy produced five players for the ARS dream team.

Commenting on the tournament, Airtel Tanzania public relations officer Jane Matinde said: “This is yet another opportunity for the aspiring youngsters to showcase their potential and keep alive their dreams of succeeding in life through football” she said. Since 2011, ARS has produced numerous football talents – boys and girls now playing various teams in the country .

She said that this year’s tourney constitutes part of the ongoing Airtel FURSA campaign launched last year with the aim to empower the youth by providing them with various enabling opportunities. “The event’s ultimate objective is empowering and transforming the lives of the youth who are passionate about football”, said Matinde.
