Athletics Tanzania (AT) Acting Secretary General Ombeni Zavalla said that the camp failed to take off because the body was yet to get money for preparations from sponsors who had promised make available certain sums of money.

She said that 44m/- was needed for the camp to be held at the Filbert Bayi Secondary School.

The sum was to be used to meet expenses for 27 athletes, including accommodation, meals, allowances and car fuel to ferry them daily from Kibaha to the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam for training.

The team was expected to camp for four weeks to prepare for the East Africa Athletics Championship set to be staged in Dar es Salaam from April 29.

Ombeni said that the body will make a follow up from expected sponsors and that once the amount is raised the team will start camp immediately.
