Speaking ahead of the highly-anticipated encounter, Pyramids FC head coach Ehab Galal praised Azam FC but insisted he is confident his side will prevail.

In a club interview with Pyramids FC Media Center, Galal said the technical bench watched several Azam FC matches and got to know the technical and physical quality of their opponents.

He believes Azam FC is a strong and organized team, as he considers it better than all the other teams that reached this stage after the preliminary round matches.

“The coaching staff watched several matches of the Tanzanian team. They’re a very strong and organized team and better than all the other teams that reached this stage from the first preliminary round.”

“We will travel next Wednesday, and our goal is to win both games to reach the next, and more difficult stage, the round of 32. And from there continue the journey towards the group stage.''

“The team is fully prepared to achieve a positive result in Dar es Salaam, qualify in Cairo, and reach the latter stages of CAF Confederation Cup because the team’s goal is to win the continental title,” he concluded.

Pyramids FC is set to start its journey in the 2021/22 CAF Confederation Cup for the third consecutive season.

The Egypt outfit has had spectacular runs in the tournament for the past two editions, having reached the final in 2020 and was eliminated in the semi-final last season at the hands of eventual champions, Raja Casablanca of Morocco.

For the trip to Dar es Salaam, Galal has selected a squad of 21 players.

The list is made up of Sherif Ekramy, Mahdy Soliman, Yousef Nader, Ali Gabr, Osama Galal, Ahmed Samy, Mohamed Hamdy, Ahmed Fathy, and Omar Gaber.

E Mayhoub, Ahmed Tawfik, Nabil Dunga, Ibrahim Hassan, Eslam Eissa, Ibrahim Adel, A Smaida, Mahmoud Wadi, and Dodo are the club's other footballers on the trip.

The second leg takes place from October 23, with aggregate winners qualifying to the group stage playoffs, where they face teams relegated from the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.
