Bomba Mbili rout Al Madrasa in Dar hockey tournament

BOMBA MBILI A youngsters’ intention to lead the race for the trophy in the Dar es Salaam junior hockey league has been made clear after they recorded resounding wins in games played at the Jakaya Kikwete Youth Park on Sunday.

Bomba Mbili A registered a 9-0 rout of Al Madrasa A in the first match and thereafter cruised to a 2-0 win over Kigamboni A.

The two wins have seen Bomba Mbili A successfully pick up from where they left off in the Olympic Day junior tournament held at the same venue last month.

Bomba Mbili A put spirited displays right from the early stages of the two-day tournament to set up a final against Kigamboni, in which they won 5-0 to lay hands on the silverware.

There were several more games in the boys’ category that took place at the same venue on Sunday, in which Ukonga A drew 2-2 with Kigamboni B, Al Madrasa B succumbed to a 2-1 loss to Mlimani and Ukonga B lost 1-0 to Jica.

The category also saw Amani settle for a 2-2 draw with Mlimani, Juhudi trounce Lugalo 5-0 and Kigamboni cruise to a 2-0 win over Jica.

The girls’ category played the same day saw Amani B get walkover in two matches after the team’s opponents, Al Madrasa A and Al Madrasa B failed to honour the games.

The category also saw Kigamboni edge Jica 1-0 and Bomba Mbili grab a similar win over Kawe A.
The league has brought together 22 outfits from different primary schools from across the city, in which the boys’ category has 13 teams and the rest are battling it out in the girls’ category.

The boys’ category teams have been put in pools A and B, in which pool A consists of Bomba Mbili A, Juhudi, Ukonga B, Jica, Al Madrasa A, Lugalo and Kigamboni A.

Pool B teams include Bomba Mbili B, Ukonga A, Amani, Al Madrasa B, Kigamboni B and Mlimani.
The girls’ category outfits are Bomba Mbili, Ukonga, Amani, Kawe A, Kawe B, Lugalo, Mlimani, Al Madrasa A and Al Madrasa B.

National Microfinance Bank (NMB), UN Women and Sikh Temple are sponsoring the league, which is organised by Dar es Salaam Regional Hockey Association (DRHA).
