​​​​​​​CARAVANS A squad has a chance to continue staying in contention for the top honour in the 2020 Kazim Nasser Memorial League (KNML)'s Division A, given the squad will face Strikers A team in Dar es Salaam tomorrow.

A lot is expected from the two teams in the mouthwatering duel, which will produce a side which will complete the KNML top tier's semi-finalists' list.

Aga Khan A squad, Aces A team and Gymkhana A squad have already booked a place in the semi-finals, considering they took the top three spots in the KNML top tier.

Aga Khan A team secured the top spot with eight points in five outings, posting victory in four and suffering loss in one.

They posted a total of 742 runs and leaked 707 runs, settling for net run rate of 0.4649.

Gymkhana A team, who had been leading the KNML Division A for a long spell, finished second after collecting six points from five matches, recording a net run rate of 1.2110.

Aces A team took the third spot, much as they finished level with Gymkhana A squad on points, number of wins and losses.

Aces A squad had an inferior net run rate of 0.2363, having amassed 773 runs and leaked 657 runs. 

The fact that both Strikers A team and Caravans A squad have equal chance of making it to the knockout stage makes tomorrow's clash even more exciting, as both sides are expected to put spirited showing in pursuit of victory.

Both Strikers A squad and Caravans A side have posted four points from two wins and two losses, but they are separated by net run rate.

Caravans A team hold the fourth spot with net run rate of 0.4482, posting a total of 704 runs and leaking 654 runs.

Fifth-placed Strikers A squad has a net run rate of -0.4700, recording 613 runs and leaking 522 runs.

Caravans A team, skippered by Sreejit Kumar, will need all of the squad's dependable players to be in good form in the coming clash, if they are to tame Strikers A squad.

They should, though, brace for stiff opposition from Strikers A side which is expected to put solid performance, seeking to prove it still has what it takes to successfull challenge for silverware.

This weekend will also witness the 2020 TCA Dar es Salaam Development League come to a climax, with Kinondoni Development squad locking horns with Lions Academy youngsters in the final at Leaders Club in the city today.

The tie, which promises to be quite entertaining, brings togethers squads which finished first and second respectively in the tournament's table.

Lions Academy team topped the competition after the completion of the round robin matches with a net run rate of 1.3970, posting victory in three matches and conceding loss in one.

Second-placed Kinondoni Development squad posted a net run rate of 1.1329.

They had also won three games and lost one duel but had to settle for the spot because of their inferior net run rate.

Kinondoni Development team are expected to line up their dependable players that include Jumanne Mohamed, Arshaan Jasani, Aahil Jasani and Kelvin Anjelo in today's clash to get the better of Lions Academy side and lay their hands on silverware.

With several gifted players including Goodluck Andrew, Athuman Siwa, Ramadhan Mbunde, Salum Jumbe, Gokul Das and skipper Rijali Fentu in their side, Lions Academy team are, though, not expected to let Kinondoni Development team easily walk all over them, given they too would be targetting to lift the top honour.

Upanga Warriors and Ilala Boys teams finished third and fourth respectively in the competition, losing out on progression to the final in the process.

Upanga Warriors posted victory in two matches and lost two duels to collect four points.

Ilala Boys ended with two points, posting one victory and conceding defeat in two outings.

Bottom-placed TCA Women team ended with no point, given they lost all three matches they took part in.
