Date set for Swahili Fashion Week

This year’s Swahili Fashion Week (SFW) will start later this month, organizers disclosed yesterday.

SFW manager Glory Urassa said the event will be held from November 30 to December 2 at the National Museum in Dar es Salaam.

She said the event will attract 30 local and ten international designers showcasing their latest attires.

Glory said preparations were going on well and local designers would use the gala to display their products.

SFW founder Mustafa Hassanali said the event will provide a platform for young, talented designers to sail through.

In his remarks, Italian ambassador in the country Roberto Mengoni said his country is happy to be associated with SFW.

He advised local designers to work hard as the industry is competitive but has the potential to create employment.
