Former Simba ace struggles to score

MEBYA City’s newly signed striker, Ramadhan Chombo who joined the team during mid-season transfer window last December, over the weekend managed to score his first league goal since January 2013.

Chombo who is popularly known as Redondo, scored for his new team during a match against visiting Toto Africa played at the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.

Chombo was on target when he featured for Simba during the 2012/13 season in a match against African Lyon. Simba won by 3-1 goals and the player then crossed over to Azam FC in the very subsequent season.

During his one season stint at Azam, Chombo was not frequently featured in the team’s first choice line-up and eventually ended the season with blank score sheet.

He tried to trade his soccer overseas but without success and when he came back, Mbeya City was the team that absorbed him to ease their scoring hitches.

Chombo was on target over the weekend when he joined other strikers in Mbeya City’s memorable 5-1 goal feast under new coach Kina Phiri from Malawi.

Whether Chombo has rediscovered his goal scoring potential or it was just a fluke, it will be unveiled in the remaining eleven matches before the season comes to an end in May
