Kagere brace lights up Simba win

Meddie Kagere’s brace was enough to give Simba a 2-0 win over JKT Tanzania in a Tanzania Premier League match at the Mkwakwani Stadium here yesterday.

The goals bring Kagere to tie with his teammate Emmanuel Okwi on seven goals.

Kagere scored his first goal in the 11th minute after coordinating well with Okwi who beat sidestepped JKT Tanzania defenders before passing the ball to him. He again scored in the 37th minute.

Simba dominated the game despite the fact that they did not field regular Zambian midfielder Cletus Chama. Jonas Mkude and Hassan Dilunga coordinated well in the midfield to make sure that his absence was not keenly felt.

JKT Tanzania’s Ally Shibori was awarded a red card during injury time after using abusive language against the referee.
Simba now have 26 points and move to second place in the 20-team league.

Meanwhile, Yanga play Ndanda FC at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam today. A win for Yanga will drop the defending champions to third place.
