Kibo Palace pledges more support for Kilimanjaro Marathon

THE management of the Kibo Palace Hotels has pledged to continue to sponsor the annual Kilimanjaro Premium Lager International Marathon due to its importance in promoting the economy of the nation and sports.

The Chairman of Kibo Palace Hotels, Vincent Laswai, speaking when he hosted this year's Kilimanjaro Premium Lager International Marathon Moshi launch over the weekend.

The promise was made by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kibo Palace Hotels, Vincent Laswai, during the Kilimanjaro launching version of the event that took place in Moshi over the weekend.

“Kilimanjaro Premium Lager International Marathon has and continues to play a big role in promoting sports, especially identifying and later on promoting new talents in the sports sector, as well as the economy, especially in the tourism sector,” he said.

He added: “We are the main witnesses of this improvement in the tourism sector and this is so because we host many visitors who come to take part in this event, now termed as a sports tourism event."

"This event has played a big role in bringing awareness as far as the marathon event is concerned in both Kilimanjaro and the country as a whole."

"It also gives opportunity to Tanzanian marathoners to compete with those who have great experience in the international arenas as far as the long races in athletics are concerned.”

He said as one of the official suppliers of the event, the Kibo Palace Hotels is proud to be associated with the now world-recognized annual event.

According to Laswai, the showdown has played a big role in marketing Tanzania inside and outside the country and therefore increasing the number of tourists visiting the region and the country in general.

“We will continue to cooperate with the organizers, the main sponsors of the event, and other sponsors in making sure that this event continues to appear in the international sports calendar for the betterment of sports, tourism promotion, and the economic well-being of our country,” he noted.

Kibo Palace operates in Moshi as Kibo Palace Hotel, Kibo Palace Home, and Kibo Palace Hotel in Arusha.

The 21st edition of the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager International Marathon is expected to take place on February 26, at the Moshi Cooperative University (MoCU) grounds, bringing together more than 12,000 participants from more than 50 countries worldwide.

Kilimanjaro Premium Lager is the race's main sponsor through sponsorship of the main race stretching 42km, and Tigo sponsoring the Tigo Half-Marathon, the 21km race.

Other sponsors include Simba Cement, Kilimanjaro Water, TPC Sugar, Total Energies, official suppliers GardaWorld Security, Keys Hotel, and CMC Automobiles.
