The race’s organizers, in a statement issued in Dar es Salaam yesterday, reminded participants that registration is purely done online and participants should use the remaining time to finalize the process to avoid missing the opportunity after registration is closed.
The initial deadline was February 7, last year but the organizers extended the date to February 16, this year to give more participants chance to register.
“We have less than a week now to close registration and as earlier stated we decided to extend the deadline to ensure all those interested are accommodated but we also want to advise that if the entries run out before this date, we shall have to close as there will be no additional entries,” the statement said in part.
Entries are on pre-registration only, with the options being either on-line and credit card payment via www.kilimanjaromarathon.com or via Tigo Pesa registration portal, whereby a person should dial *149*20# and follow the instructions.
According to the statement, registered participants will collect their race numbers and running shirts before the event in Dar es Salaam, Arusha and Moshi.
According to the organizers, the exercise will take place at Mlimani City Mall in Dar es Salaam from February 23-24 between 1pm–7pm, as well as at the Kibo Palace Hotel in Arusha from February 25-26 between 2pm – 8pm and at Keys Hotel in Moshi from February 27-28 from 10am – 8pm.
There will be, according to the organizers, manual registration and number collection for the Grand Malt 5km Fun Run on the same dates and locations as noted above.
“We are also appealing to Moshi and Arusha residents to adhere to these dates as there will be no physical registration in Moshi this time round. Most of them tend to register late, we are calling on them to register online on time,” the organizers’ statement said.
For the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager 42km race, the maximum entries are 750, for the Tigo 21km race the maximum entries are 5500 and for Grand Malt 5km Fun Run the maximum entries are 5000.
“We are calling on all prospective runners to register in good time as the entries sold out before the 2018 event,” they insisted.
The statement added there is no guarantee that if a person is late, there will be space for either him or her in the event the person wants to take part in.
Sponsors for this year’s event include Kilimanjaro Premium Lager-42km race, Tigo-21km race, Grand Malt 5km Fun Run and water table sponsors and partners KK Security, Keys Hotel, Kilimanjaro Water, TPC Sugar, Simba Cement, AAR, Kibo Palace, Barclays Bank, Precision Air and CMC Automobiles.
This is the 17th edition of the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon and the event will take place at the Moshi Cooperative University (MoCU) ground on March 3.
