Majimaji Serebuka registration deadline set for tomorrow

ORGANIZERS of the Majimaji Serebuka festival have said registration for the event will end tomorrow and asked all people willing to take part at the event to register before the end of the day.

The one-week event gets underway from Saturday at the Majimaji Stadium in Ruvuma.

Reinafrida Rwezaura, one of the organizers, said all the preparations for the event are over and they expect many people to attend as they have lined up a number of activities to suit people of all works of life.

She said people can register either on line through the festivals’ website or in Ruvuma.

Rwezaura said the event, which started in 2015, is organized by Songea Mississippi (So-MI) in collaboration with an organization called Tanzania Mwandi.

“All preparations for the Majimaji Selebuka festival are over, we ask those who have not registered for the event to register for it now, there will be a lot of entertaining activities to cover all people,” she said.

She mentioned some of the activities lined up for the week as full marathon, 21-kilometer race, five kilometers’ race and a 2.5km- race for kids, as well as a business trade fair.

Other activities are bicycle riding, touring of attractions in the area, painting for children and football matches, among others. Winners in marathon and riding will be awarded.

The tourist attractions people will visit include Luhira Game Reserve, Lipamba Game Reserve, Matogoro Mountain forest, Mbamba Bay Beach, Majimaji Memorial, German Boma and Ruvuma River Waterfalls.

There will also be a forum dubbed Majimaji Selebuka Mtu Kwao, she said.

"The aim of the festival is to give the young people the opportunity to learn many things, as well as knowing the past and also enjoy with their elders,” she said.
