Miller wins Arusha rally

ARUSHA Motor Sports Club’s veteran driver Gerald Miller won the U-track sponsored motor rally held in Arusha yesterday with dominant performance in both legs.

Jamil Khan’s car tilts dust during Oryx Africa Rally Championship staged in Bagamoyo in June. Khan is leading the pack of Tanzania drivers in the national championship series.

Miller made a remarkable show during the opening leg staged on Saturday and the overnight leader started where he left all the way to the final.

Navigated by peter Fox in their Mitsubishi Evolution car, the duo stamped their ultimate authority in almost all sections to hit the podium in the most fascinating way.

Miller who earned points during the Oryx Africa Rally Championship staged in Bagamyo in June, has substantially boosted his national rally championship points.

The veteran driver was among the 22 who started the event on Saturday and half of the number made it to the final.

Second-placed in the event was Dar es Salaam Motor Sports Club’s ace driver Jamil Khan, who was navigated by Mysam Fazal. The performance has boosted Khan’s national championship title bid as he shoots points to staggering 61.

Poor cooperation from the organisers halted our otherwise good intention to publish detailed account of the event as telephones were kept ringing without response. Names of the other nine drivers who finished the event could not be available as we went to press.
