Msuva maintains goal scoring form in Morocco

TANZANIAN forward Simon Msuva scored the only goal for Morocco's soccer giants, Wydad Casablanca, in the club's 1-0 victory over Maghreb Fes in the Northern African country's Premier League clash, which took place at Stade Hassan-II in Fès on Boxing Day.

The victory has seen Wydad Casablanca post back-to-back wins in the Moroccan Premier League.

Msuva scored for the side on the 30th minute after dribbling past Maghreb Fes defenders within the latter's penalty box and firing a low powerful shot that rolled into the back of the net.

The striker has now scored for Wydad in two successive games. He also netted in the previous match which had Wydad Casablanca cruising to 3-0 victory over Hassania Agadir.

Msuva goal has seen Wydad Casablanca collect a total of 12 points after playing five matches, posting victory in four outings and defeat.

They are placed second in the Botola Pro League standing, with rivals, Raja Casablanca, topping the league with 13 points.

Wydad Casablanca's only league loss so far came in a tie with Olympic Safi, who defeated the former 2-1 at home in the second round of the league.

Wydad's next match will be an away game against Khouribga in Moroccan Throne Cup showdown to be played on December 30.

Wydad Casablanca bounced back to winning ways after losing 1-0 to Mali's Stade Malien Bamako in a mid-week away game of the 2020/21 CAF Champions League clash, which took place on December 23.

They are expected to play a reverse fixture in Morocco on January 6. A win is the only guarantee for Wydad Casablanca to seal a spot in the 220/21 CAF Champions League's group stage as they are already down by 1-0.

In November, Msuva joined the Moroccan soccer giants from the country's other outfit Difaa El Jadida on a four-year contract.

Wydad Casablanca are one of the most successful clubs in Morocco and Africa, having won the Moroccan Premier League ' Botola Pro's title 20 times.
