The game turned into a see-saw affair as either side worked hard to take the lead.
Mtanza’s Khalfan Mgonza scored for the side deep into stoppage time of the opening half.
Mtanza were the rejuvenated side as they kicked of the second half with vigour in an attempt to extend lead.
The schoolboys search for an elusive equalizer as they gallantly fought hard but lady luck would not smile for them.
The match ended with Mtanza winning by the slim margin but emphatically taking lead in group A’s standings ahead of today’s second round matches.
Mtanza have three points and two goal for as Mwaseni Seconday School and Mibuyu Saba share point apiece. Bottom-placed in the standings are Mpira Kitabu without a point.
In group B Young Boys were expected to meet Mloka Veterans in their opening match at Mwaseni venue yesterday.
