Namungo FC announces arrival of more players

NAMUNGO FC officials have disclosed the team have acquired their third signing ahead of the new season with the arrival of bustling Ghanaian striker Stephen Sey on a two-year contract.

Namungo FC newly signed midfielder, Abdulhalim Humud.

The 25-year-old was on Thursday announced as Namungo FC’s latest acquisition‚ signalling the club's intent on holding sway in the coming season.

Sey who scored six league goals for relegated Singida United is seen as a direct replacement for club top scorer, Reliants Lusajo.

Lusajo guided the team to the top flight and had a good season with 16 goals across all competitions for Namungo.

The towering forward, though, has left the club after failing to agree to a new deal. He is rumoured to be on the verge of signing for Yanga.

“We have completed the transfer of Stephen Sey from Singida United‚ on a two-year contract‚" the club said through its official accounts.

Namungo have embarked on a rebuilding exercise during the off-season and also announced the arrival of veteran midfielder Abdulhalim Humud from Mtibwa Sugar on a two-year deal.

Humud who has played for various sides including Simba SC and Azam FC is expected to add experience to coach Thierry Hitimana squad that will represent Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Namungo FC booked a continental ticket after reaching the final of this season's Federation Cup.

Despite losing 2-1 to Simba in the Federation Cup final, held in Rukwa last month, Namungo FC qualified for CAF Confederation Cup since Simba had won the Premier League and are eligible to play in the CAF Champions League.

Last week, they confirmed the arrival of former Lipuli FC midfielder Fredy Tangalu on a two-year deal while also releasing 11 players.

The club is expected to sign more players as the transfer window is open till end of August before the top-flight kicks off the season on September 6.
