Simba SC started Mainland Premier League on a winning note when they thrashed Ndanda FC 3-1 in the opening match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
Newcomers Laudit Mavugo, Shiza Kichuya and Fredrick Blagnon showcased good soccer with each scoring a goal for the home side.
Simba started the game at high speed before Mavugo beat defenders of the Mtwara team to score the first goal in the 20th minute.
The Burundian striker connected a Mohamed Hussein 'Tshabalala' cross to beat goalie Jackson Chove. The goal lasted for 17 minutes before Omary Mponda headed home a Kigi Makasi cross to equalize for Ndanda FC.
Blagnon who substituted Ibrahim Ajibu in the 62nd minute, headed home the second goal for Simba in the 73rd minute, using well a corner kick taken by Tshabalala. Kichuya sealed the scoring board when he notched the third goal in the 79th minute.
Elsewhere, Tanzania Prisons defeated Majimaji 1-0 while JKT Ruvu pipped Mtibwa Sugar by the same margin.
