NMB Bank announces sponsors for 2022 NMB Marathon

WITH merely a week to go before the 2022 NMB Marathon, termed 'Mendo wa Upendo', is hosted in Dar es Salaam, the event's organizer NMB Bank has announced more than 20 sponsors for the race.

The institution stated the sponsors have explained the decision to support the event, noting it has come as a response to the bank's positive idea of liberating women in the country.

The 2022 NMB Marathon, aiming to collect 600m/- to support the treatment of women suffering from fistula disease that are treated at the CCBRT Hospital, will be held on October 1 at the Leaders Club grounds. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa is expected to be the charity event's chief guest.

Juma Kimori, NMB Bank's Chief Financial Officer, speaking at a press conference in the city yesterday, thanked the sponsors for supporting the race and facilitating the goal of collecting 600m/- this year, thus making it possible to direct the collection for the next two years of the race to other areas in need.

Kimori stated: "When we launched the NMB Marathon last year, we set the goal of collecting 1bn/- in four years, a great response enabled us to collect 400m/- instead of the 250m/- we expected, that is when we saw the importance of getting 600m/- this year to complete 1bn/-."

He mentioned the race's main guarantors as Sanlam Life Insurance and UAP Insurance falling in the Executive category, while Jubilee General Insurance is a Gold category sponsor.

Bronze group sponsors include Alliance Life Assurance, Britam Insurance Tanzania, Reliance Insurance, ARiS Risk, and Insurance Solutions.

The rest of the group of sponsors includes Jubilee Life Insurance and Metropolitan Life Insurance, while Toyota, TBL, Strategis, Serena Hotel, Azam, and Johari Rotana Hotel are among the other sponsors.

In the partner media category, Kimori mentioned EFM Radio, TV E, Mwananchi Communications Limited, IPP Media, and Almasi Productions, with SGA Security Tanzania, Gelato, and Grano Coffee completing the sponsors' list.

The trustees congratulated NMB Bank for coming up with the positive idea of liberating a group of mothers that have failed to treat fistula disease due to the high cost of treatment.

They noted the institution's decision to come out to support the cause is proof that maternal health is an important priority for society.

Sanlam Life Insurance's Chief Executive Officer, Julius Magabe, thanked the NMB Bank for participating in soliciting funds for the treatment of women suffering from fistula disease, adding to them, it is an important and noble opportunity to support women.

Magabe moreover disclosed they will work closely with NMB Bank in any social initiative.

Mariam Hussein, Head of the Sales Division at UAP Insurance Company, said that peace and improving everyone's life are among UAP's priorities.

The official pointed out the motive is the secret of their urgency in sponsoring the NMB Marathon, she affirmed the firm will not just sponsor the event, given its staff will as well take part in it.

"We thank our sponsors that have been divided into more than five categories, including Executive, Gold, Bronze, and Media Partner for supporting us as requested during the launch of this year's race, and contributing to seeing to it this process is a success," Kimori noted.
