Okwi, Bocco fit to face Egyptian side

Lethal Simba strikers - Emmanuel Okwi and John Bocco - who were injured in Mainland Premier League matches have recovered and will play for the team in the CAF tourney next week.

Simba will be facing Egyptian side Al Masry in the Confederation Cup first round, first leg match on Wednesday at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Simba information officer Haji Manara said yesterday that Okwi who got injured in the team’s league match against Mbao FC of Mwanza was doing well and will be fit to play the visiting side.

Manara said that Bocco who was similarly injured when Simba played Mwadui FC of Shinyanga had also recovered and will be in the starting lineup.

Okwi and Bocco missed the team’s league match against Stand United which ended in a 3-3 draw at the National Stadium on Friday.

The return of the duo will sharpen the striking force of the home side.

Al Masri are expected to arrive in the country today at 6pm, proceeding to train at the National Stadium tomorrow ahead of Wednesday’s encounter set to kick off at 6pm, the club official noted.

He said the South African referee and assistant referees will arrive in the country tomorrow.

Simba eliminated Djibouti’s Gendarmerie Nationale FC in the preliminary round on a 5-0 aggregate. Simba entered the pitch with a massive 4-0 advantage from their first leg match at the National Stadium before winning 1-0 in the return leg in Djibouti.

The Egyptians bundled out Zambia’s Green Buffalos despite losing 2-1 at the Nokoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Al Masry progressed into the next round on 5-2 aggregate, with Green Buffaloes having lost 4-0 in the first leg encounter in Cairo.
