It was a second consecutive victory for Profile team in the best of three games’ final. The team was equally impressive in the first game, cruising to 80-51 victory.
During the Sunday final, Shaaban Ally showcased his scoring prowess, slotting in game high 21 points to help his team keep Bugando Planet at bay and win.
Bugando Planet’s experienced power forward, Amon Semberya scored 17 points but his efforts failed to help his team turn around its fortunes in the match.
The first match, played a fortnight ago, saw Profile’s one Ally put stellar displays and score 23 points to inspire his team to victory. Semberya scored 17 points for Bugando Planet in the game.
Bugando Planet were forced to deploy their experience to edge Butimba Spiders in the semifinal, also played in the best of three games’ format.
Bugando Planet won the first game and the second game saw Butimba Spiders get the better of the former to secure a win and force the semifinal to the deciding third match.
The third match, played at the Butimba Teachers Training College’s court ended with Bugando Planet winning 76-71 to secure a place in the final.
Profile commanded two wins in a row against Bugando Heat in the other semi-final to progress to the final.
The league’s organisers disclosed that game three of the final will take place as scheduled despite Profile having already emerged champions. Prize giving ceremony will also take place the same day.
MBF organises the league annually in a bid to improve the standard of the sport in the region.
This year’s league brought together nine outfits that locked horns in round robin format in the early stage. The top four teams then qualified for the playoffs.
