Simba roar as JS Snoura fall 3-0

SIMBA have launched their campaign in Group D of the 2018/19 CAF Champions League impressively, recording a 3-0 drubbing of JS Saoura of Algeria at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

Forward Meddie Kagere netted two goals on the 51st and 67th minutes respectively and striking partner, Emmanuel Okwi, scored one during the added on time of the opening stanza for Simba.

Simba made their plan to register an early opener known, as they pressed forward and won two corner kicks on the first minute. They however failed to make the most of those opportunities.

JS Saoura pushed forward two minutes later and won a free kick almost 25 meter out, only to see Simba players block an effort by Mohamed Hammia.

Simba threatened to score an opener two minutes later in which Okwi sped down the right flank and floated in a pinpoint cross, only to see that opportunity go begging.

The hosts continued to press forward and went close on the eighth minute as midfielder Hassan Dilunga blasted over from outside the area after he was set up by Clatous Chama.

The hosts were presented with a glorious chance thereafter as Okwi controlled a long pass by defender Paschal Wawa and got the better of a defender within the area. Okwi’s left foot effort though ricocheted off the crossbar.

JS Saoura won a free kick on the edge of the area on the 16th minute and Hammia could only manage a shot that was blocked by Simba players. They then frustrated an attempt by Hammia to get the better of the defenders.

Midfielder Chama released striker John Bocco outside JS Saoura’s area on the 22nd minute, but Bocco failed to make the most of the chance as Naceredine Khoualed kept him in check.

Aishi Manula was forced to stand firm between the posts on the 30th minute after striker Hammar had tested him with an angled long range strike.
The hosts threw overboard a good opportunity on the 33rd minute as right fullback Nicholas Gyan could only manage a weak right foot effort from within the visitors’ area.

Okwi forced a good save from JS Saoura keeper, Khaled Boukacem, on the 35th minute when he unleashed a fierce right foot effort from outside the area.

Juuko Murshid made a good clearance to foil JS Saoura striker Ibrahim Beckachi who had floated in a dangerous cross from the left on the 38th minute.

A long range shot by midfielder Jonas Mkude went off target a minute before half time as the outfit kept on putting pressure on the JS Saoura defense.

Okwi eventually put Simba 1-0 up during the added on time, beating Boukacem with a rasping left foot effort after he was released by Chama. The hosts led by the lone goal at the breather.

Forward Meddie Kagere netted the second on the 51st minute, in which he slammed home from within the area after he was released by Okwi.

JS Saoura introduced forward Thomas Ulimwengu on the 54th minute in an effort to turn tables on Simba,, but he did not make an impact.

Okwi had an opportunity to record a third goal for Simba two minutes later after he was released within JS Saoura’s area, but Boukacem tipped over the goal-bound ball.

JS Saoura had a chance to reduce the deficit when Hammia was released outside Simba’s area, got the better of defenders and attempted a right foot shot which went off target.

Simba were 3-0 up on the 67th minute after Kagere netted from a good pass byOkwi.

JS Saoura made a few forays during the closing stages of the game and were presented with opportunity, which were however wasted.

The visitors won a free kick outside the hosts’ area during the added on time. Keeper Manula tipped over a well taken free kick to deny the visitors a consolation goal.
