Simba SC trio eyes outfit's best player of the month prize

SIMBA SC's trio of Luis Miquissone, Aishi Manula and Joash Onyango have been shortlisted for the club's March's best player award recommended by the side's fans.

The Tanzania soccer big guns are lately training in Dar es Salaam under the tutelage of Frenchman, Didier Gomes, to prepare for the CAF Champions League's Group A clash against Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)'s AS Vita Club, which will be played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city on Saturday.

The three players are competing for the prize, known as 'Emirates Aluminium Profile Player of the Month', which was made public recently.

Custodian Manula, who still has a one-year contract left with Simba SC, is rumoured to be wanted by Sudan football giants, Al Merreikh.

Al Merreikh are reported to be in need of Manula's services because of his impressive showing between the posts.

The keeper has not conceded a goal in three out of four matches Simba have played in the CAF Champions League's group stage.

The first match, which had the keeper featuring for Simba SC in the tournament, ended with the outfit notching 1-0 victory over AS Vita Club in Kinshasa.

Manula once again put solid showing as Simba SC, against all odds, cruised to 1-0 victory over the tournament's defending champions, Egypt's Al Ahly, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

The shot stopper moreover ended with clean sheet in Simba's clash against Al Merreikh, which took played in Dares Salaam, with the former thrashing the latter 3-0.

Mozambican midfielder, Miquissone, and Kenyan central defender, Onyango, have as well been putting impressive displays for the side in both Vodacom Premier League and CAF Champions League.

Simba SC's Information Officer, Haji Manara, said that the process for getting the outfit's best player takes datas into concern, an aspect which gives each player a chance to be in the prize pool.

"Every player has a chance to win the award because we have a professional who monitors everything when it comes to players' performance, from defenders to strikers, this not a prize for strikers per se,'' he noted.

''Voting is our fans' role, therefore, they will be given instructions and explanations on the players and reasons for their selection for the award,'' he disclosed.

He noted: ''It is the fans' job to vote for the player they want through Simba SC website.''
