Simba seek to step up title chase

SIMBA SC head coach, Sven Ludwig Vandenbroek, is optimistic his squad will notch wins in the Vodacom Premier League games against Lipuli and Kagera Sugar, which will take place this month.

Simba clobbered Morogoro’s Mtibwa Sugar 3-0 in a league match which took place in the region on Tuesday.

The Simba coach pointed out he was determined to see to it his squad post victory over Mtibwa Sugar given the latter had cruised to victory over the former in Mapinduzi Cup, held in Zanzibar.

Simba’s fans moreover disclosed the team’s victory over Mtibwa Sugar helped the Msimbazi Street-based squad regain the fans’ trust in it.

The supporters were irked by the team’s defeat to JKT Tanzania a clash, which took place in Dar es Salaam.

Simba’s Ubungo supporters’ branch spokesman Justine Joel said the side played well against Mtibwa Sugar throughout.

"On behalf of Simba’s Ubungo supporters who went to Jamhuri Stadium to watch the duel I declare that we no longer doubt the side’s competence,’’ he noted.

‘’I request our fellow fans in Iringa to cheer the team in a game against Lipuli, which will take place on Saturday.’’

Simba defender, Serge Wawa, said his side has set out to lift the league’s silverware.

‘’Winning the trophy is out team’s target. We are committed to fulfilling the plan,’’ he disclosed.
