Simba set to leave for SA

The first batch of Simba SC players are expected to leave for South Africa today to prepare for the Mainland Premier League set to kick off on August 26.

Reliable sources within the club said yesterday that the group will be led by team captain Jonas Mkude, while the team’s professionals will join other players in South Africa.

The newcomer will sign a two-year contract to play for the Msimbazi side once he joins the team.

The third and final group will join the team after the end of the CHAN match between Taifa Stars and Rwanda which was set for last evening.

The team trained by Cameroonian tactician Joseph Omog, will play a number of friendlies while in South Africa before returning to Dar es Salaam to mark Simba Day.

Simba Day is annually marked on August 8 and the club use the gala to introduce players who will feature for the team in the league to their members and supporters.

Simba who finished second in the last league will start their campaign against Ruvu Shooting.

The team will also represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup next year.
