Tanzania to host FIFA meeting next month

TANZANIA will host this year's International Football Federation(FIFA)council in Dar es Salaam on February 22, with 19 nations set to attend the event.

According to media reports, the council is expected to be attended by FIFA president Gianni Infantatino, secretary general Fatma Samba Diouf Samoura and Confederation of African Football(CAF) president Ahmed Ahmed, among others.

Tanzania Football Federation(TFF)officials were not available for comments on the issue yesterday.

Media reports said the council will, among others, discuss FIFA grants for grassroots development, challenges facing in Tansfer Matching System and the FIFA calendar of events.

"Some of the nations which are expected to attend the council include Bahrain,Saudi Arabia,Palestina, Algeria,Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Mali and Niger and will discuss a wide array of topics which involve football ," says part of the report.

The Dar es salaam council follows the other council which was held in Kolkata, India last year.

The India meeting, among others, agreed on the prize money for this year's FIFA World Cup as there is an increase in the number of  participating teams, and improving bidding regulations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
