TANZANIA Volleyball Association (TAVA) is in need of 65m/- for meeting expenses for the national junior and senior teams, which are preparing for international competitions slated for later this year.

The national junior volleyball team, as disclosed by TAVA secretary general, Selengia, will feature in this year’s World U-21 Beach Volleyball Championship slated for next month in Thailand.

The senior team, he pointed out, will feature in the All Africa Games that will take place in Morocco.

Selengia noted the national volleyball governing body appeals to sports stakeholders to help it send the squads to the mentioned competitions.

The official noted the cash would meet costs for the squads’ camps and other expenses during the teams’ participation in the events.

He noted the national junior team is expected to head for Thailand on June 16 to compete in the showdown.

Selengia the national volleyball governing body is keen on seeing to it domestic sides take part in international events.

He pointed out the country got the opportunity to take part in the World U-21 Championship showpiece after hosting a number of beach volleyball tournaments at the domestic level.

Selengia disclosed the national squads are currently taking part in training sessions, given his association believes they will access sports enthusiasts’ backing.

The official was adamant TAVA is keen on ensuring the national teams compete in the events with a view to promoting Tanzania.

He insisted the association is confident the national junior squad will excel in the World U-21 Championship.
