Flying Dribblers and Kurasini Heat also had the last laugh in the day’s other quarterfinal games.
Flying Dribblers had to dig deep to register a 91-82 win over Oysterbay, whilst Kurasini Heat cruised to a 64-59 win over Kigamboni Heroes.
The tournament’s coordinator, Basilisa Biseko, said a special draw for the semi-final fixture will be held soon."Teams that registered maximum points in the quarterfinals games have progressed to the semi-finals,” Basilisa said.
Coca-Cola company has sponsored the competition through Sprite brand. East Africa Television (EATV) and East Africa Radio are the event’s organizers.
The competition’s champions will receive 15m/- and the runners-up will get 3m/-. Cash prize has, as well, been set aside for the competition’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) that awarded 2m/-.
Each of the participating teams is made up of 10 players, with the teams also having been allowed to field three players from the regional first division league’s clubs.
The semi-finals, as disclosed by organizers, will be played in the best of three games’ format. Teams which will emerge victorious in the semi-finals will progress to the final which will be played in the best of five games’ format.
Organizers insisted they are committed to taking the sport to great heights in the country.
