TP Mazembe made full use of home ground advantage to chalk maximum points at the expense of visiting Mo Bejaia by 1-0 goal in Lubumbashi on Wednesday.
The former African champions are now flying high with ten points dangling on their fingers while Young Africans have a single point to their collection kit.
All the four teams in group A have two matches in hand to wind up the fixtures before computations are done to find out the two teams that would progress into the semi-finals. TP Mazembe with double digit number of pints are in absolutely pole position even f they lose the remaining fixtures.
Young Africans are virtually out of the race even if they happen to win their remaining two matches, one against visiting Mo Bejaia and the other against group leaders TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi.
Yanga’s next trip to the DRC’s copper belt city of Lubumbashi will turned out to be a formality sporting tour, as victory sill will not open the gate for progression.
While Yanga will be in Lubumbashi, Mo Bejaia will be at home to visiting Medeama of Ghana. A win for either team would completely eliminate Yanga as the Tanzanian side has a ceiling of attaining seven points in the event they beat TP Mazembe and win their final game against visiting Mo Bejaia in Dar es Salaam.
Mo Bejaia and Medeama both have possibilities of reaching the semi-final stage and their match stands out as a decisive.
TP Mazembe’s match against Medeama as well as Yanga does not give the Lubumbashi boys any pressure at all.
Even if they lose, still TP Mazembe have already accumulated sufficient points to comfortably cruise into the last four.
