Yanga had lost the first leg played last month by a lone goal at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The match in Lubumbashi has turned out to be a formality as Yanga have lost hope of progressing into the semi-final stage as a result of poor performance.
While hosts TP Mazembe have collected ten points to win the semi-final berth, Yanga have four points and a win against the Lubumbashi boys will not give them an opportunity to sail through.
Yanga have a ceiling of attaining seven points in case they win today but already Ghanaian side Medeama have attained unassailable points with eight points ahead of their final game against Algeria’s Mo Bejaia. The Algerians will be at home today as they host the Ghanaian side aiming to win the game.
Mo Bejaia has five points to their collection and urgently need to win by a big margin if they are to edge out the visitors. Medeama are kicking off today’s game with huge psychological advantage as they just need to draw and sail through.
Yanga have won the only game against visiting Mo Bejaia and earned a draw at home to Medeama to attain the four-point mark.
The Dar side lost two away games to Mo Bejaia and Medeama and at home to TP Mazembe. Each team in the group is supposed to play six matches, half of them at home and the balance on away soil.
Yanga coach Hans van Pluijm had earlier said before boarding a flight to Lubumbashi on Sunday that they will play to over TP Mazembe win despite hope dashed. The two matches will kick off simultaneously.
