The match, as disclosed by the tournament coordinator, Valentina Quaranta, had been expected to take place last Saturday but it was pushed back because the venue is currently undergoing minor refurbishment.The rest of the matches that were expected to take place the same day have, as well, been rescheduled.
Dar es Salaam hockey giants, Tanzania Prisons, were slated to open the day by playing Kibasila, whereas Juhudi B were to lock horns with Makongo B.
The pool A of the men’s category was also expected to see Nia Njema Bagamoyo A take on Dar Khalsa A, Dar Khalsa C play KIgamboni A and Juhudi B confront TPDF B.
Prisons and Dar Khalsa A were thereafter set to clash in the category’s mouth-watering fixture.Prisons are currently leading the rest of the pack in the pool A with 15 points from five outings, scoring a total of 36 goals and leaking four.
TPDF B are occupying the second spot with 12 points with five matches, winning four and managing draw in the other. They have scored 34 goals and leaked eight.
Dar Khalsa A are third-placed with 15 points from five games, scoring 45 goals and conceding three. The team, as it is the case for the other top two sides, has yet to suffer defeat in the league.
The women category was expected to see six outfits battle it out the same day, in which Juhudi Ladies were to play Twende A, while TPDF Ladies were scheduled to face Nia Njema Bagamoyo B.
Kibasila Ladies were slated to take on Twende B, whereas Kigamboni Ladies were to confront Nia Njema Bagamoyo A.
Twende B are perched at the top position in the women category with 15 points from five outings, scoring 24 goals and conceding four. The team, as it is the case for Juhudi Ladies, boasts of unbeaten spell.
Twende A and Juhudi Ladies are in the second and third positions with 12 and 13 points, respectively.Twende A have been positioned second despite trailing Juhudi Ladies on points because the former boast of a better goal difference.
Twende A have scored 13 goals and conceded two while Juhudi Ladies have netted 23 goals and leaked nine.
Dar es Salaam Regional Hockey Association (DRHA) has organised the league, which involves 28 teams competing in men and women categories.
