Troubled Simba host Majimaji

MAJIMAJI are at home to visiting Simba Sports Club in return leg match of the Mainland premiership to be played at the former’s backyard of Majmaji Stadium in Songea this afternoon.

Mwadui fans celebrate a victory when their team defeated Simba in a Mainland premier soccer league match played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

As the title race has ended with Yanga retaining it, Simba will be seeking to restore pride and fight for the runners-up spot. Positioned on the bottom half of the standings table, Majmjai will need to earn three more points and shove themselves to the upper half of the standings table.

Majimaji are sure to survive the premiership pruge having attained 33 points with two more games to play, the Songea top flight side is almost focusing on how best to set up a formidable team for next season.

The |Simba team that kicks off tdoay’s game is completely different fron the one that was fighting for the premiership title a couple of weeks ago. Since losing to Mwadui in the last weekend’s game, Simba has been embroiled into internal crisis with players’ boycott now becoming rife.

Unpaid allowances and other bills have hit a ceiling at the club finance office and it took efforts by the management to convince their Ivorian goalkeeper Vincent Agban and Zimbabwean midfielder Justice Majabvi to travel to Songea on Monday.

The team travelled to Songea on separate batches and their performance today might be affected by the leade4rship disorganisation.

Trailing two points behind Azam FC, Simba need to win all the three matches to hit a ceiling of 67 points if they are to finish the league as runners-up. Otherwise, dropping all three points today will open the gate for the ice-cream makers to snatch up the runners-up spot after their hope faded due to docking of three points early this week, resulting from fielding suspended player on September 27 last year.
