DAREVA secretary general Yusuf Mkalambati said Ardhi commanded a 3-0 rout of Bagamoyo whereas UDSM cruised to a 3-1 win over DUCE.
Thirteen colleges are battling it out in the tournament, which has been organised by Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball Association (DAREVA) in a bid to maintain effective promotion of the sport in schools.
Other colleges that are taking part in the event include Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA), Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), College of Business Education (CBE), Institute of Finance Management (IFM) and Mwalimu Nyerere.
Other teams are Muhimbili University College of Health Science, National Institute of Transport (NIT), TAASISI and Maji.
The tournament’s games, according to Mkalambati, are played on weekends at the participating colleges’ respective venues. The tournament, he noted, is expected to come to end in July this year.
Mkalambati also disclosed this year’s Dar es Salaam regional volleyball league is expected to start in the city on Saturday.
The league’s opening matches, he said, have been slated to take place at the National Indoor Stadium from morning.
Sixteen teams will lock horns in the men and women categories, in which the men’s event comprises 12 teams and the women category has six outfits.
The league’s games, he said, will take place on weekends at the National Indoor Stadium and Tanzania Cigarette Company (TCC) grounds.
