Yanga yesterday qualified for the African Champions League first round when they eliminated Cercle de Joachim of Mauritius on a 3-0 aggregate.

The Jangwani Street side hit Cercle de Joachim 2-0 in the preliminary round, return leg match played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday. Yanga won 1-0 in the first leg match played in Mauritius a fortnight ago.

Amissi Tambwe headed home a Simon Msuva cross in the third minute before Thaban Kamusoko added another in the 56th minute when his long range shot could not be saved by Abrefa Godfrey Yaw at the visitors’ goalposts.

Yanga’s next opponents will be the winners of the tie between APR of Rwanda and Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland.
