Samia axes Ndalichako, shifts Makonda

PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has revoked the appointment of Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disability state minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Prof. Joyce Ndalichako (Kasulu Urban), while making several noticeable changes in a minor cabinet reshuffle.

Zuhura Yunus, the director of presidential communications, said in a statement early yesterday that the president has appointed Paul Makonda erstwhile CCM secretary for Ideology and Publicity, as new Arusha regional commissioner. 

He replaces John Mongella who will be assigned to other dutiesm while Deogratius Ndejembi (Chamwino MP) to the Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability portfolio as state minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), replacing Prof Ndalichako 

Prior to this appointment, Ndejembi was deputy minister for Regional Administration and Local Governments in the President’s Office, the statement noted.

Evans Mtambi, outgoing Mkinga district commissioner takes over as Mara regional commissioner, replacing Said Mtanda, who shifts to Mwanza in the same position, while incumbent RC, Amos Makalla, will be reassigned.

Zainab Katimba (Special Seats) becomes deputy minister in the President’s Office (PO-RALG), while Daniel Sillo (Babat Rural) is now Home Affairs deputy minister in place of Jumanne Sagini (Butiama) who moves to Constitutional and Legal Affairs in the same position.  

Maryprisca Mahundi (Special Seats) goes to Information, Communication and Information Technology from Water in the same position as deputy minister, with Kundo Mathew (Shnyanga Urban) changes places with Mahundi, moving from Water to Information in the same position.

Fakii Lulandala becomes Simanjiro district commissioner, having served as CCM Youth Wing secretary general, while his colleague Gilbert Kailima goes to Mkinga as DC, leaving his post of secretary general at the CCM Parents Wing.

Cyprian Luhemeja moves from Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability in the Prime Minister’s Office to Union and Environment in the Vice President’s in the same post as permanent secretary Office, the statement indicated.

Mary Manganga moves from Union and Environment (VPO) to Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability (PMO) in the same post as permanent secretary, while Dr Edwin Mhede becomes deputy permanent secretary at Livestock and Fisheries in place of Agnes Kisaka, shifting to Water in the same capacity.

Dr Mhede, a seasoned economist, has chaired the board of directors of NMB Bank and was CEO for Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit (DART).

Ex-Simanjiro DC Dr Suleiman Serera becomes deputy permanent secretary at Culture, Arts and Sports, with Nicholas Mkapa moving to Information, Communication and Information Technology in the same capacity

Selestine Kakele was appointed ambassador, leaving the post of deputy permanent secretary at Information, Communication and Information Technology, while former cabinet minister, Ambassador Dr Asha Rose Migiro joins the Planning Commission as a member.

The newly appointed officials will be sworn in on Friday at the State House in Dar es Salaam, the statement added.
